Let The Punishment Be The Crime by: Scott "Cyclops" Summerton Last Revised Wednesday May 6th, 1998 ------------------------------------------- Freddie's eyes quickly scanned the area in front of him. It was raining and the air was misty but he remained dry. His hair was obstructing his view, but was browner than before. This wasn't his room, he wasn't in his bed. "Where am I?" he thought to himself. Behind him he heard a familiar male voice, he turned his head sharply to acknowledge the voice, and when he did he felt a soft object swaying by the back of his neck that was attached near the top of his head. "What the-?" was all he could utter before his mind registered the sound of his voice and he dropped some other unknown object that was in his hand, causing it clattered to the ground. His body froze upon hearing his voice, but it wasn't his own body, or his own voice. He realized that the male's voice was so familiar because it was his own. Yet the voice with which he spoke was familiar, and the swaying object helped along his thoughts... "This can't be-" he thought. "I'm her... I'm that girl..." "I'm Lita..." he vocalized with disbelief, hearing Lita's voice escape his own lips. "What did you say?" replied the voice behind him. Freddie was speechless and in shock. He slowly looked down at his hands. Thin, slender fingers with long elegant nails. He used those hands to brush away the soft brown hair in his face as he scanned the rest of his body. Once he saw the white blouse with two large protrusions coming from his chest, he knew he was in a girl's body alright, and he wasn't planning on investigating his lower torso to obtain any more proof. He did see the unique tan skirt he remembered as being what that Lita girl always wore, her not being able to wear the standard school uniform. His hands flashed to his ears, and his worst fears were confirmed. He felt them: those twin rose earrings she always wore were in... -his- ears. "This has got to be a dream..." he whispered with Lita's voice. "What are you going on about? I asked you a question!" barked his former voice sternly. Freddie turned to face what he feared would be himself. He wasn't sure what he feared more: seeing his own body standing before him, or experiencing the movements of a girl's body necessary to just turn to face that body. "Look at me!" ordered his former voice. Freddie began to feel weak, tears welling up in his eyes. "Her eyes" he thought. He gave in, turning slowly to face the commanding voice. He saw himself: his male body. "What?" he asked as his voice began to crack with crying eminent. Hearing her voice come from what he claimed as his mouth didn't help. "I told you I don't want to see you any more, and you haven't said a damn thing!" "I- I'm not-" Freddie couldn't control his emotions any longer. Tears started rolling down his now female cheeks as his vision began to blur. "You're not what? Not happy? Do you think that -I- care if you are happy? I don't want to see you ever again! Now get out of my sight!" "What?!" Freddie could feel his heart sinking, he was losing a battle and didn't even know what side he was on or how to even react. "How could anyone be so cruel?!" he thought. His knees felt weak. He was most scared of why he was reacting the way he was. "Was it because I was suddenly turned into this girl," he thought, "Or because I am her while she was being hurt..." "While she was being hurt..." Those words bounced in his mind repeatedly for a mere second before an idea began to form. Is this her way at getting back at me? Is that her, Lita, in -my- body doing this to me? "Didn't you hear me?" Whoever was in Freddie's former body, they were getting impatient. "If you won't leave I will!" he threatened. Freddie realized he had to find out what was going on and that this was his last.. his -only- chance. He rushed to his male self, feeling the awkward and alien body which he now possessed reluctantly obeying his mental commands. It didn't move right. Everything was different, wrong. He was stumbling, off-balance, the weight of his body frighteningly different from what it should be. The clothes didn't help him either. He felt the nylons moving strangely on his smooth legs. The skirt made it almost impossible for him to run let alone walk, constantly flapping between his knees. Even the shoes, which he felt had a slight heel and were cut lower than his normal footwear, caused him immense trouble. Then there was that damn ponytail, swaying back and forth with every step, nearly throwing off his equilibrium entirely. Reaching his male body, he leaned on his chest with his smaller female arms, grabbing the collar of the jacket for support. He realized he was smaller now, shorter due to Lita's body. He remembered Lita as being tall, but whoever was in command of his old body seemed to loom over his new frail one. "Get off me!" shouted the male body as it shoved Freddie away with ease. Freddie stumbled back, nearly toppling over because of the unnatural shoes. He stared desperately into his old blue eyes, immediately realizing that he was gazing through her emerald green ones. Freddie's male body began to open the umbrella he was carrying. "Wait!" shouted Freddie using Lita's trembling voice, "You can't just leave me like this!!" His male body opened the umbrella and began to leave. "That has to be Lita wanting to hear me beg," he thought. Freddie began to shout "I'm SORRY! I won't do it again! I'm sorry!!" His male body simply opened the umbrella and began to walk briskly away into the pouring rain. Freddie, struggling to shove all the unusual female feelings of this body aside, began to run after his former body out into the rain. He stopped part way, clutching his gentle fingers into a tiny fist. The rain began to cause his soft new hair to hang limply on his head and neck as tears began to flow freely from his eyes. "This has to be a dream..." he thought. "Wait a minute," his thoughts continued, "that was almost identical to what happened when I dumped her in the first place. After it happened, someone told me that that Ken guy showed up and comforted her right afterwards, so that means..." He turned to his right expecting to see that poor sap with the umbrella coming to take care of what he thought would be Lita, someone who could explain what was going on. He felt that damn ponytail sway yet again, wetly slapping the side of his neck. Freddie saw nothing. Nobody. He frantically spun around, searching for anybody. Still nothing. "Hello?!" he said, hearing her high voice yet again. "Is anybody there?" No reply. Freddie was becoming beyond desperate. He used those elegant nails to pinch his arm through his thin blouse. Nothing. He pulled that annoying ponytail. Still nothing. He pinched his arm again, drawing blood which stained the long sleeve of the silky blouse. "Oh god!" he cried, "Oh my god, I can't wake up!" Freddie's knees finally gave out dropping him to cold hard walk as it ripped the nylons and tore the hem of the skirt. He made both hands into tiny fists and began to repeatedly pound the hard ground in front of him. "WHY!? WHY!? WHY!?" Tears were flowing freely down his face as he batted his eyes to clear his vision. He looked at his bloody hands, surely he had broken many of the bones in them. Frustrated, he reached up and tore the balls in which Lita always tied her ponytail setting the long hair loose so it could swirl around his head. Upon removing them, he pulled out many strands of the long hair as well. Staring at the balls and hair, he clutched them tightly into his right hand and threw them as far as he could from his wobbly kneeling position. Freddie could barely see thanks to the pouring rain and blurred eyes. He remained kneeling and hugged himself, feeling the soft body which was now his through the thin blouse with his small slender hands. He rocked back and forth trying to come up with any idea. He began to sob uncontrollably, and upon doing so, caused his prominently female chest to heave and even bounce. Terrified by the feeling, he spread his arms apart as if he was crucified. "I've learned my lesson!" he began quietly, unable to bring much bass or volume to his now gentle voice, hearing the feminine sobs between every other word. "I now know what I put you through, and worse! Lita, please! Can you hear me?" Only the rain cut through the maddening silence. Freddie desperately struggled to again stand, but the foreign body made it nearly impossible. After what seemed like an eternity he finally achieved a satisfactory balance. He raised his slender arms to the dark grey sky and began to scream, hearing Lita's voice echoing it and every word. "WHY!?! I'M SORRY!! I WAS WRONG! LITA!! PLEASE GIVE ME MY LIFE BACK! GIVE ME MY BODY BACK! PLEASE!! I'M SORRY!!!" His head snapped up. Thank god it was only a nightmare. Freddie's eyes quickly scanned the area in front of him. It was raining and the air was misty but he remained dry. His hair was obstructing his view, but was browner than before. This wasn't his room, he wasn't in his bed. "It's happening again," he thought. His body was paralyzed from fear so he was unable to voice any sound, so mind began to scream in its place... "No... NO! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" Alone in her apartment, Lita sat up in her bed in the middle of the night. She wasn't sure how or why, but she all of a sudden felt better for some strange reason. Like she had finally gotten revenge on all those who ever harmed her somehow. She lingered on that thought for a moment. "That's silly," she said smiling, "probably just happy that tomorrow's Saturday!" And with that, she returned to her peaceful sleep. END --------------- Well, I'm satisfied that Freddie got what he deserved, and is finally beginning to pay for what he did to Lita. I take it you now understand the meaning of the story's title. :) Again, big thanks to Lady Jupiter, as she not only got me thinking about the story, but also got me to actually sit down and type the thing out! Well, this is my first fanfic, so I'll be expecting the usual compliment of flames, praise, what have you. I can't list off all the copyright holders because I'd probably miss out on some and get sued or something! :) I am not expecting any money from any story I write, and therefore am not taking any money away from the copyright holders. Special thanks to Lady Jupiter (Jupiter101@hotmail.com) as I was inspired to write this after misinterpreting her "Remember When?" prologue and reading her "Rainy Day Man Remix" story. The "A Knight To Remember" episode of Sailor Moon also had a hand in this story's creation. Like Lady Jupiter, I'm a huge Jupiter fan. That will become obvious as you read my future stories, they are all Lita-centric. I will be using the NA dubbed names, because that's the way I prefer it! My other/future fanfics can be now be found at my "Writing" page at http://www.muskoka.com/~summertn/writing.html and probably anywhere else you got this fic from. Just so you know, this story features Freddie, the boyfriend that dumped Lita during the flashback from "A Knight To Remember." There aren't any monster attacks in this, and Lita is the only scout that is shown. If I say any more I'll ruin the story, read on! ---------------
